Can't connect?
When someone's in the room but you can't reach them
Why it happens
Contact High connects your browser straight to the browsers of the people in your room. There's no server in the middle, so it costs nothing to run and nobody's music or chat passes through anyone else's computer.
Some networks don't allow direct connections like that: some mobile carriers, most office and school networks, and many VPNs. When both of you are on one, you find each other but the connection never opens.
What to try
- Switch to home Wi-Fi, or off mobile data.
- Turn off any VPN.
- Try again away from a work or school network.
It only takes one of you on an ordinary home connection. If one person can switch, start there.
Phone hotspots
Sharing a phone's connection can help or make things worse, depending on the carrier. It's worth a try when the network you're on is the one in the way.
