Effective 2 November 2026
Contact High has no server of its own, no accounts, no cookies and no ads. Your music, your chat and your name go straight from your browser to the browsers of the people in your room, over encrypted connections. We never receive any of it.
What we never see
- The tracks you play, their names, or the files themselves.
- Your chat messages and the moments you pin to tracks.
- Your display name and your room code.
What stays in your browser
So a room survives a reload, your browser keeps its playlist, chat and settings in local storage, and the audio files in IndexedDB (up to 500 MB, oldest first out). Delete stored tracks from the Stored audio panel in the room. To remove everything, clear this site's data in your browser's settings.
People in your room see your IP address
Browsers connect to each other directly, and a direct connection needs each side's IP address. Everyone in your room, and anyone who joins it later, can see yours. An IP address can show your approximate location and your internet provider. Only share room links with people you trust.
That's why Contact High asks you to agree to this before you join a room for the first time.
What the services in between see
- Cloudflare hosts this site. Like any web host it sees your IP address when your browser loads the page. It also counts page views without cookies (which page, browser type, country). It never receives room codes: the part of the address after the # stays in your browser.
- Nostr relays are public servers that introduce browsers to each other. They see your IP address, a fingerprint of the room code (not the code itself), and connection details encrypted with a key made from the room code.
- Cloudflare's STUN server tells your browser its public IP address so others can reach it. It sees your IP address and nothing else.
